Dear MTUESD Community,

We made it! Congratulations to all of our graduates and to their families. The celebrations were heartfelt and well attended. We thank you for your partnership.

Please complete that paperless registration, even if your student is currently enrolled. This on-link link replaces that gigantic packet you get at the beginning of every school year that needs to be returned. By integrating the registration forms into our electronic information system, we are able to lessen the burden of the secretaries of all that data entry at the beginning of the year. Anytime, we roll things out there is confusion as it is new, so I apologize if you were inconvenienced. It is important that you hit the START NEW REGISTRATION (first box) when you open it. This will allow you to start the process. Should you need to stop midway, you can save it and it will assign you a number and if you go back in the second time, then you would hit the second box, RETURN TO SAVED REGISTRATION AND ENTER THAT NUMBER. Please remember that this process needs to be completed before the first day of school in order for your child to receive a classroom assignment.

Please do it now TO MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT APPEARS ON A CLASS LIST BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.  If you need help with the process, please contact cstamatis@mtwain.k12.ca.us.  Here is the link:  Registration Link for NEXT YEAR

Please also complete the income survey.  I REALLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO BE HONEST AND PLEASE DON’T INFLATE YOUR EARNINGS.  Be honest, but don’t record more than you really make.  NO ONE looks at this individually, only as a piece of the whole.  With state funding, the lower the better for our kids.

As you know, we’ve had some staffing changes. Mr. Peters will be joining the middle school team delivering math instruction, and Cailey Gomez is moving into the sixth-grade spot at Mark Twain. We also have hired two new teachers, one to support the elementary grades and one to support the Bridges program. We will continue to fill two part-time teaching positions and a temporary position. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions about those opportunities at 650-996-3290.

Summer school starts on Thursday for general education. We are looking forward to a tremendous program. This program is under our lead teachers Tessa Pyle, Jessica Bottomley, Kel-Lee Felix and ELOP leader, Emily Anderson-Mucks. They have a tremendous summer program planned. There is still time to sign up.  Just go to your school office.  FIRE CAMP IS ALSO ON THE BOOKS AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO A GREAT PROGRAM.  If your child is attending AND NOT RIDING THE BUS, please drop them at the BRET HARTE Fire Academy (near the pool) on the scheduled days and the older camp students must be picked up at the end of the Fire Camp session.  If they are riding the bus to school, we will deliver them there!

Reminder to our Copper families, please understand there is only an EARLY AFTERNOON BUS home from summer school.  We welcome your students to stay all day, but if you want them to do so, please pick them up by 5:00.

I hope you have a wonderful summer ahead. Weekly messages will be a little less frequent during summer school and will resume prior to school start.

I hope you have a happy and safe summer ahead. I am so proud of your kids. It has been a privilege to serve you this year.  More good things ahead!

Sincerely yours,

Louise Simson
