Greeting Copperopolis School Family,
On behalf of the staff at Copperopolis Elementary School, I am thrilled to welcome you back to the 2021-2022 school year and thank you and your child for thier resilience during the past two years. The staff and myself are excited to bring your children back to school for a full day of strong academics, fun, relationship building, and above all prioritizing the safety of your child(ren). Our first day back to school is Wednesday, August 18th at 8:00 a.m. for K-6th grades. For our TK kiddos 10:10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We are planning to have full days of academic instrucion for kidergarten through 6th grades. Please see the our bell schedule for daily times. All class lists will be posted on Friday, August 13th at 4:00p.m. outside the Copperopolis Elementary School office.
As some of you know, I will be your new principal for the coming school year and I look forward to the privilege of serving the Cougar Community. This will be my 22nd year in education inculding 14 years educating students at both Copperopolis and Mark Twain Elementary Schools. Some of my top prioritites include transparency and communication, so please feel free to catch me at pick up, after school, via a phone call, or even an email. I look forward to meeting your children and developing strong relationships with both the students and families of Copperopolis Elementary School.
We have several fantastic new staff on campu this year! In our TK/K program, we have Elise Maygren whome many of you may remember from her studen teaching year in Mrs. Crawfords class last year. She is excited to bring joy to learning and build stgrong foundational skills with her students. In our 5th grade classroom, we have Lorie McAdams. She transferred from Mark Twain, where she was teaching 5th grade last year. Lorie is a dynamic teacher with a growth mindset philosophy. She models that philosophy in her life with many years of experiences and continued years of education and degrees earned. In 6th grade we have a familiar face on our campus, Cailey Gomez. She was our Title 1 teacher last year and she brings a fresh perspective and new energy to our campus. Cailey has a strong background in intervention skills that will be put forth in our intermediate grade programs. Lastly, we have Michele Speyer joining our stafff as the new office manager. Michele is no stranger to the campus as she has been a member of our School Site Council, PTC, and a parent to several of our students. She will be the face of our office and your go to person.
As always, the first day of school comes with nervous trepidation for some and excitement for others. Please know that your child(ren) will always come first on the Copperopolis Elementary campus and we are looking forward to a year filled with learning, discovery, and joy!
Sincerely,
Sara Tutthill
